Matched Funding
Many companies have a matched funding program whereby they will match dollar-for-dollar the amount you or your team fundraises. Even if there is currently no such program in place, they could be more than willing to make a donation and support their employees support a good cause. All you have to do is ask!
Who to ask
Speak to your HR department and ask them if your company matches funds raised by their employees or has a program in place to donate a certain amount to the charitable causes supported by employees. Let them know what it is that you are taking part in - (running a challenging 8km course or walking 16km to support people living with MS) and what you hope to achieve (fundraising $X amount to support Australians affected by MS).
How to ask
The best way for you to ask is in person. Face-to-face is the best way to communicate your message, your goal and to ask for support. If this is not possible, send an email or call the appropriate person (and follow it up). If they would like a letter, email or any supporting documentation outlining and confirming your proposal, they will let you know.
Why not offer to put your company's logo on your page (or your team page) and to publicise the fact that you are receiving support from the business? Everyone who visits your page will see the fact that your organisation is doing something great!
Put together a proposal to show you are serious about asking for their support. It makes sense to follow the same principle of any client or supplier who is looking for their business or investment. You have to build a case for it.
How we can help
We can supply any information or official documentation that your workplace may need on behalf of MS Australia. We can also send letters stating the amount you have raised and will also send them a letter of thanks and a certificate after the event.
If they do decide to grant you matched funding, let us know! We can publicise this on our marketing emails (if desired) so that everyone will know they are showing their support for you and MS Australia.
Other ways to get your company involved
If not through matched funding, your employer may like to make a company donation, organise staff to volunteer, promote fundraising for you (or your team), pay for staff entry fees or organise company branded merchandise.
