Volunteer Positions
Base Managers
Oversee and run an event site. Manage base volunteers, coordinate bump in and bump out and may liaise with sponsors and vendors. Applicants must be comfortable with managing people and solving problems.
Base Coordinators
Oversee a section of a site such as Registration or Information. Supervise and coordinate a team of volunteers. Applicants must be comfortable with managing people and solving problems.
Base Volunteers
Located at the start/finish site or a rest stop along the course base volunteers may assist with one of the following roles:
Registration Register participants on the day and distribute prepaid registration kits. BBQ/Catering Help to cook the BBQ as well as serve food and drinks. Site Marshals Assist in participant marshalling and assist with the installation and pack down of equipment and general site maintenance. Information Provide general information to participants. |
Sector Managers
Oversee a section of the course. Manage volunteers assigned to specific locations along the course and attend to any incidents that may occur. Applicants must be comfortable with managing people and solving problems.
Course Marshals
Located strategically along the route, marshals direct, encourage and cheer on participants, advise participants of approaching hazards and form an important part of the communications network.
Support is provided by a Sector Manager. In excess of 110 Course Marshals are required to support
the MS Walk & Fun Run.
Equipment/Logistics
Coordinate the ‘bump in’ and ‘bump out’ requirements of a site and respond to any equipment requirements during the event. If available, pre and post event duties will include truck loading
and site set up. This is a very active job and the work is physically demanding.
Signage crew
Position / install and dismantle signage at the start / finish site and around the course before and after the event. Applicants must be available from 6.30am to 4.30pm with an allocated break in the middle of the day.
