WHERE DOES MY ENTRY FEE GO?

If you have already paid for your registration fee,we are more than happy to offer you some alternatives in lieu of the registration fee you paid.
 

Here’s what you can do:

1. Take no action. Your registration fee will cover a portion of the costs related to planning the virtual event – things like the website, fundraising tools and providing fundraiser support.

2. Convert your registration to a donation! MS provides vital support services for people living with multiple sclerosis and your funds will make a real difference. Convert your registration fee to a donation and boost your fundraising total.

Note: Converting a registration to a donation on your fundraising page can take up to 20 business days to process. A tax receipt will be issued for the donation once this process is complete.

3. Rollover your registration to next year! Bring on the 2021 Melbourne MS Walk Run + Roll! We’ll get in touch with all the details before the event launches.

HOW DO I RECEIVE MY FINISHER MEDAL?

Finisher medals will be posted to all virtual participants who signed up to the MS Walk Run + Roll, raise $100 and submit their walk run or roll results via their fundraising account across the weekend of 17-18 October 2020.

NB: Your results will still be counted if they take 24 hours to appear.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

To support public safety and wellness, we recommend avoiding peak times at your park of choice and practising good hygiene.

Remember, just because this is a virtual event, we encourage all runners to practice running etiquette.

For example:

Be Seen – Make sure you have bright clothing or high a high-vis vest if you are running on a public road and always be aware of your surroundings

Fitness Levels – Know your limits. Training for the run is not essential but recommended depending on your fitness levels.

We urge all participants to be aware and follow the latest advice from the State Government in relation to COVID-19, visit the website or contact the Coronavirus Health Information Line on 1800 020 080. This line operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

HOW TO CONNECT MY FITNESS DEVICE?

  1. Download the Fitbit, MapMyFitness or Strava app and set up your account (if you do not already have one)
  2. Log in to your fundraiser account.
  3. Under the heading ‘My Fitness Activity’ on 'My Page', connect your chosen app.
  4. Follow the prompts to connect your account
  5. You may also choose to record your fitness manually – in which case you do not need to connect any fitness device

NB Don't forget to also set your Distance Target, 5KM or 10KM!

HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR FITNESS RESULTS?

When you next work out, select ‘start your workout’ in the app on your phone. Once you end your workout, save your workout and your distance will be published to the tally on your page THE FOLLOWING DAY.

If you have synced your app already but it is not working, please log in and re-connect it.

When using Fitbit, you must ‘start’ and 'end/save' an activity for it to sync to your fundraising page. Your daily steps will not automatically add to your page. If you are having issues, try syncing through BOTH your Fitbit and the Fitbit app on your smartphone.

Your tally will be updated each day with the previous day’s distance(s). Please allow 24 hours for your activity to appear on your fundraising page.

Remember, you can manually add your kilometres to the tally in your My Fitness Activity tab of your profile after registering. This is a great option if you’re using a pedometer or a different method of tracking your distances.

Follow these steps to manually add your KMs:

  1. Log in to your account and select ‘My Fitness Activity’
  2. Under ‘Add activity’, enter the date and distance
  3. The number of KMs will now appear on your fundraising page!

WHAT DO I GET IN MY ENTRY KIT?

You will receive a Fundraising Kit, with some resources to assist you in your fundraising efforts; including some information about people living with MS and where your fundraising goes.

WHEN WILL MY ENTRY KIT ARRIVE?

Entry Kit mail out will commence in August 2020

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I CAN NO LONGER TAKE PART IN THE EVENT?

Call us on 1300 733 690 or email walkrun@ms.org.au to let us know so we can update our records and manage the process to remove you from the event.

CAN I TAKE MY DOG ON MY MS VIRTUAL WALK RUN + ROLL?

While we welcome dogs to participate in our physical MS Walk Run + Roll events you must abide by the local laws and regulations regarding dogs being permitted within the space that you complete your virtual distance.

WHAT HAPPENS IF IT RAINS?

The MS Virtual Walk Run + Roll - Victoria is run across 2 days of a weekend. This gives all participants the very best opportunity to complete their distance at the very best time for them! If the weather is not looking favourable please dress to the conditions and consider wearing wet weather jackets or hats and sun protection in direct heat and sunlight.

WHAT IF I AM FEELING UNWELL ON EVENT WEEKEND?

We encourage everyone to make choices that support public safety and wellness and avoid spreading disease.

Participants must follow advice from the State and Federal Government authorities and Australian Health Department.

Stay at home if you feel unwell. If you have a fever, cough, sore throat, or difficulty breathing, do not participate in public events and seek medical advice.

Stay at home if you have been in contact with a confirmed or suspected case of COVID-19, have travelled interstate or overseas in the last 14 days.

Follow the directions of Government Health Authorities and always practise good hygiene. The Australian Government provides advice on hygiene practices.
