NO ONE SHOULD FACE MS ALONE!

Can you imagine waking up one day unable to do the everyday things you would usually take for granted? Like not being able to see properly (or at all), unable to get out of bed, walk to the phone to call someone – anyone – or live a life without pain?

All of a sudden, your world has changed.

Multiple sclerosis is a chronic and often debilitating disease which attacks the central nervous system (the brain, spinal cord and optic nerves). It is the most common neurological disease in young adults and often attacks people at a time in their lives when they are planning families and building a career. Three out of four people living with MS are women.

With your support, we can allow people living with multiple sclerosis access to vital support services, like MS Connect, MS Peer Support and MS Employment Support Programs. We’ll also be helping bring new treatments closer to reality, investing in repairing myelin damage to restore function that has been lost for people with progressive forms of the disease.

Who's Uncle Michael?

WHO'S UNCLE MICHAEL?

Uncle Michael travelled to Canberra for university in 1980s. met my wonderful Aunt Aliza at ANU and they were both completing courses in Economics. I was 3 years old. He then graduated in both Computer Science and Economics and started working for a Telco in Hong Kong in 1990s and 2000s. little Jenny was then studying primary and high school in Hong Kong. Uncle Michael often tutor her in Maths when she couldn't solve her maths homework. He is also the go-to person for everything I. T.  Little Jenny turned 19 and decided to head back to Canberra to finish college and University. Uncle Michael advised on new computers and equipment before sending her back to Canberra. 

Years gone by, it is now 2017. Uncle Michael was on a flight and could not lift his arm to place the luggage into the overhead compartments. Early diagnosis from doctor, indicated he had carpel tunnel, common for someone who is a software engineer, computer scientists who uses mouse and keyboard all day.

Very soon, he was officially diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, and was advised that the nerves that have started dying on his right arm will likely spread to thee other arm and legs. By 2021, he had his first episode of COVID and that weakened him. Little Jenny grown up did not visit until 2025, 3 years went with lockdown. July 2025 was the last time she saw him, and he was bed bound. Jenny and her partner who happened to be both in I.T. assisting Uncle Michael with voice control technology on smart phones, the only way he could control anything, with his voice. They tested all brands of phones, and Siri on Apple phones was best for his voice and would lower the rate of inaccurate calls to contacts on his phone haha. (I am currently sitting at dinner out, tearing up) Came Christmas 2025, Jenny started a family video call, Uncle Michael can be seen very weak with a skin infection. The infection would spread and ultimately end his life and suffering in Jan 2026.  Thank your for reading and I wish I could see him one more time and tell him how much he is appreciated and how brave he was going through this with very little support from the government in Hong Kong. Auntie Eliza and Uncle Michael were inseparable, she was his solid full time carer and gave up on her career. More to come....
