Wadsy

A little of my MS journey.

I'm joining my niece Rebecca who was recently diagnosed with MS and is the team captain for the annual MS Walk.
I was diagnosed with Relapsing Remitting Multiple Sclerosis in 2002. It was a wake up call to look after myself better than I had been.
Over the next 10 years I learnt to listen to my body, gave up smoking, got fitter than I had been and started practising what I preached in my work as a nurse that for some part involved advocating and supporting people with chronic illness.
The lived experience of managing MS is a personal journey and we all do it differently. I had always loved netball and MS didn't stop me. At 56yo due to COVID restrictions I played in my last competition 2020.
A Positive mindset and trial and error along with a touch of self belief is the best medicine. Oh and I went back to Uni for post grad studies 2019-2020.
Having great supports around you who believe in you has helped me over the years. So thankyou to my family and friends for this.

Walk, Run + Roll, I’m taking part to fight MS!

I’m joining in the MS Walk Run + Roll to make a difference in the lives of Australians living with multiple sclerosis.

I have challenged myself to complete the kilometers and to raise funds to fight MS!

Multiple sclerosis affects more young people than any other chronic neurological condition and the average age of diagnosis is 30. It can strike anyone at any time and the symptoms vary so widely.

Imagine waking up one day unable to do the everyday things you would usually take for granted. Some of the symptoms of MS are a sudden onset of blurred vision or loss of vision, being unable to get out of bed, difficulty walking, pain and fatigue.

All of a sudden your world has changed.

Because of your generous support, the funds that are raised will allow people living with multiple sclerosis to access vital MS Support Services, such as MS Peer Support, or the MS Employment Support program keeping Australians living with multiple sclerosis in the workforce.

Thank you again for your support.
