ABOUT THE VIRTUAL EVENT

Given the recent requirements to cancel mass participation events, the 2020 Sydney MS Walk Run + Roll, has been converted into the MS Virtual Walk Run + Roll, taking place on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 March 2020.

The MS Walk Run + Roll was rebranded in 2020 to recognise our wonderful MS Community and celebrate the diversity of our participants.

By going virtual, you can put all that training into good use, get outdoors and make a real difference to people living with multiple sclerosis.

Complete your run locally or from indoors with a treadmill or cross trainer anytime on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 March 2020.

The funds that you raise ensure that people living with multiple sclerosis get the vital support they need to meet their goals, live well and ensure that no one has to face MS alone.

Getting outdoors and being active is a wonderful way to reduce stress levels and maintain overall health. In order to support public safety and wellness please exercise caution, such as avoiding peak times at your park of choice and practicing good hygiene.

FINISHER MEDALS

Finisher medals will be issued to all virtual participants who originally signed up to the MS Walk Run + Roll, upon submitting their results. Please note, new participants signing up directly to the MS Virtual Walk Run + Roll, will receive a finisher medal whilst stocks last.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

To support public safety and wellness, we recommend avoiding peak times at your park of choice and practising good hygiene.

Remember, just because this is a virtual event, we encourage all runners to practice running etiquette.

For example:

  • Be Seen – Make sure you have bright clothing or high a high-vis vest if you are running on a public road and always be aware of your surroundings
  • Fitness Levels – Know your limits. Training for the run is not essential but recommended depending on your fitness levels.

HOW TO CONNECT YOUR FITNESS DEVICE

1. Download the Fitbit or Strava app and set up your account (if you do not already have one)

2. Log in to your fundraiser account.

3. Under the heading ‘My Fitness Activity’ on 'My Page', connect your chosen app.

4. Follow the prompts to connect your account

NB Don't forget to also set your Distance Target, 4KM or 8KM!

HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR RESULTS

When you next work out, select ‘start your workout’ in the app on your phone. Once you end your workout, save your workout and your distance will be published to the tally on your page THE FOLLOWING DAY.

If you have synced your app already but it is not working, please log in and re-connect it.

When using Fitbit, you must ‘start’ and 'end/save' an activity for it to sync to your fundraising page. Your daily steps will not automatically add to your page. If you are having issues, try syncing through BOTH your Fitbit and the Fitbit app on your smartphone.

Your tally will be updated each day with the previous day’s distance(s). Please allow 24 hours for your activity to appear on your fundrasing page.

Remember, you can manually add your kilometres to the tally in your My Fitness Activity tab of your profile after registering. This is a great option if you’re using a pedometer or a different method of tracking your distances.

Follow these steps to manually add your KMs:

1. Log in to your account and select ‘My Fitness Activity’

2. Under ‘Add activity’, enter the date and distance

3. The number of KMs will now appear on your fundraising page!
