Join me in the 2026 walk, run, and roll. What a year it's been since last year's event and since formal diagnosis.
There's been lots of ups and downs for me since diagnosis, with a real shift towards prioritising my overall health and being proactive in making choices now to let me live my best life regardless of how MS decides to hit me.
During the period of diagnosis I didn't imagine how much would change for the better from that point on. After making no changes and putting MS to the back of my mind, to turning around and being proactive for my current and future health. At the end of the 2025 event I definitely didn't think I would have completed a triathlon, changed my eating and exercise habits, or returned to playing footy!!
Raising funds for this cause helps so many people but has also helped me directly, access to professional information, trained MS nurses and recently taking part in 2 research trials - a resistance exercise program and a set of nutrition lessons tailored to those with MS.
Choosing to focus on the positives doesn't mean there are no negatives of course. The worst for me has been not the physical symptoms and medication side effects but the uncertainty that comes with the diagnosis. Realising that things might stay as they are forever or progress rapidly and unexpectedly without notice and that there is no way to know if disease progression will happen in 5 days, 5 years, or never.
I've made a conscious choice to make the most of what I can now. The future is uncertain for all of us but having the diagnosis made that more real for me and overall that's been a real positive for my overall wellbeing.
So to be selfish, please join me, raise funds to support the work people are doing to help those with this shitty disease and to allow us to keep living our best lives!
