2026 Sydney MS Walk Run + Roll

NO ONE SHOULD FACE MS ALONE!

Can you imagine waking up one day unable to do the everyday things you would usually take for granted? Like not being able to see properly (or at all), unable to get out of bed, walk to the phone to call someone – anyone – or live a life without pain?

All of a sudden, your world has changed.

Multiple sclerosis is a chronic and often debilitating disease which attacks the central nervous system (the brain, spinal cord and optic nerves). It is the most common neurological disease in young adults and often attacks people at a time in their lives when they are planning families and building a career. Three out of four people living with MS are women.

With your support, we can allow people living with multiple sclerosis access to vital support services, like MS Connect, MS Peer Support and MS Employment Support Programs. We’ll also be helping bring new treatments closer to reality, investing in repairing myelin damage to restore function that has been lost for people with progressive forms of the disease.

On behalf of over 37,756 Aussies living with multiple sclerosis – THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

Neuroplasticity!

Wednesday 11th Mar
Recently I have been trying to re-centre my weight. The Osteo asked me to work on shifting my weight to my left, at home. When we did it in the Osteo I felt more vulnerable- the knee sometimes gives way.
I rarely feel my gluteus on my left, specifically the medius. Already, in just a few hours, my gait became more even and much wider than the old-person walk/pigeon steps  I sometimes look like I’m doing. This is at the same time as working on walking heel to toe which takes a LOT of thought & therefore energy/effort because my brain needs to relearn a new pathway because the existing one has a bit of a traffic jam/potholes in the road & generally a faulty pathway….

This need to focus on a basic activity contributes to fatigue yet most with MS know that exercise is key- to maintain what we have & to rebuild new pathways for the faulty ones.

An accidental 3.25km the other day- (post Osteo)  bodes well for my 5km :)

An unexpected km this evening

Thursday 5th Mar
1km this evening was a surprise after a bit of a rough week with poorly cats, this morning I felt like a train had hit me… after a pretty decent nap I felt much better.
Norgesic has changed my life so much- it calms my body (spasticity)  & therefore my mind & nervous system. It’s the most effective method when I can’t exercise or stretch well enough to shift whatever is going on.

Even deep breaths don’t seem to work in the way they should because of how my crazy body likes to hold tension randomly- spasticity- I get this mostly in my left hip/flutes & calf. Recently it’s been in the neck too.

My Osteos are amazing- I have one in Penrith & one in Wollongong while I’m here (which I am this week).

I have vinegar shots for when cramping is bad- it’s what the pros use to shock the system in a good way. It’s rare because I’m pretty good with magnesium & electrolytes.

I also do some firm ear massage to reset myself.

This is a bit of an odd webpage… it’s not easy to add pics…

Why not?!

Wednesday 4th Mar
I used to run.
I used to swim.
I used to dance 8h every Friday and Saturday in heels(!) in my twenties.
I ran a small remote school.
I taught teachers how to teach in the UK & Australia, and supported Principals in small remote schools in the NT.

And now life is a bit different…. The last month or so has been surprisingly good and I’m almost scared to say it but by God’s grace, I’ll make the 5k on April 19th….
5km doesn’t sound a lot & to Jane 10 years ago, it was an easy Sunday run….

For this, I have ice vests, I’ll take rest stops & I’ll have food etc ready for the next 10 days so if I’m not great afterwards, I can cope by myself. I have an easy cat to look after so it won’t be too onerous.

I’m not sure I’ll get to do a 5k again as my max is about 3km now. And that’s only once a fortnight at a push… and by accident! 1-2km is more comfortable. Pushing isn’t great/ideal but exercise and purpose are as important as connection!! So I’m asking for your help.

If you could donate just a cup of coffee, it’d mean a lot to me & it’ll certainly spur me on…. And I’ll need it!!

Thank you xx
