Saturday 15th MarNO ONE SHOULD FACE MS ALONE – CHRIS’S STORY
Can you imagine waking up one day and realising that something you’ve always taken for granted—walking, seeing, or even getting out of bed—has suddenly become impossible? For my husband, Chris, this isn’t just a thought; it’s his reality.
Chris has lived with multiple sclerosis for 20 years. For two decades, he has fought to stay on his feet, to hold onto his independence, to push through pain and uncertainty. But MS doesn’t wait. It doesn’t pause for us to catch up.
After years of determination, Chris now relies on a walking stick. And soon, he will need a motorised chair. It’s happening faster than we ever imagined. He wasn’t ready for this. We weren’t ready for this. But MS doesn’t give a choice—it takes. And it takes fast.
Multiple sclerosis is a chronic and often debilitating disease that attacks the central nervous system, affecting the brain, spinal cord, and optic nerves. It is the most common neurological disease in young adults and often strikes at a time when people are building careers, families, and futures. Three out of four people diagnosed are women, but every person living with MS has their own battle, their own story, their own losses.
With your support, we can make a difference for people like Chris. Your donation will help provide access to vital services like MS Connect, MS Peer Support, and MS Employment Support Programs. It will also fund groundbreaking research into new treatments and myelin repair, working towards restoring lost function for those with progressive forms of the disease.
Chris has never given up. But no one should fight MS alone. Please, if you can, donate today and help give people like Chris the support, the treatment, and the hope they deserve.
On behalf of Chris and the 33,300 Aussies living with multiple sclerosis – THANK YOU for your support!
